You only have to pay for hosting, design and support (if required), you DON’T have to pay for the software itself which makes it a great option for those on a budget. The open source nature of WordPress means that there are no limits to what you can do with it, and there is a huge community of developers who contribute to the project, improving it and eliminating bugs and security flaws all the time.

Also because it is open, MANY different companies can host your WordPress site, so if you are unhappy with the service you are receiving from your hosting provider, you can pack up your site and all its data, and move it to a new host! If you build a website on a closed platform such as Wix or Shopify you are at their mercy! If they put their prices up over night, or don’t answer your support ticket unfortunately you are stuck with them!

Plugins

WordPress has a huge plugin repository, giving you endless possibilities for extending your site’s functionality. Many of these plugins are free, and they can do almost anything you could want, from adding social media buttons and contact forms, to adding a whole web app such as a store or booking system.
